Biography
Giovenale Moirano is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at the BSC Global Health Resilience team. He is trained in environmental epidemiology, with a specific focus on evaluating the climate change impacts on human health. In his role as Postdoctoral Research Fellow, he oversees the Wellcome Trust-funded project "IDExtremes" in collaboration with Prof. Rachel Lowe. Giovenale holds both a Medical Degree and a PhD, the latter of which he earned from the University of Turin in 2020. His doctoral research focused on the impacts of climate change on vector-borne diseases, specifically West Nile Virus and Visceral Leishmaniasis. Throughout his academic journey, Giovenale has engaged in collaborative research across different institutions such as the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2016), Lancaster University (2019), and The Gambia MRC Unit (2022). During these periods, he focused on applying spatio-temporal epidemiological models aimed at evaluating the relationship between climate change-related exposures and various health outcomes.
