Scientists and engineers are commonly faced with the challenge of modeling multiscale systems which cross scientific disciplines and where several processes acting at different scales coexist and interact. Such multidisciplinary multiscale models require large scale or even extreme scale computing capabilities. The objective of the MAPPER Summer School on Distributed Multiscale Computing is to educate researchers from various application areas about specific competences on multiscale modeling and distributed multiscale computing. The school is thus a perfect amendment to the International Conference on Computational Science (ICCS) and its Workshop on Modeling and Computing Multiscale Systems (MCMS) to be held from June 5th to June 7th 2013 in Barcelona (http://www.iccs-meeting.org/iccs2013/).
The summer school follows up the first school held in the beginning of February 2012 in London. It will feature well-known international experts as instructors from the MAPPER project, the ScalaLife project, the MMM@HPC project, and the DRIHM project.
If you want to understand how to develop multiscale applications and how to run them on European e-infrastructures under the guidance of expert instructors and tutors or if you are excited about an inspiring, interdisciplinary, and problem based learning environment, then please consider participating at the summer school by emailing a letter of interest that briefly indicates your motivation, previous experience with multiscale applications and the expectations you have of the school. Please send this letter to summerschool@mapper-project.eu latest by May 20th 2013.
The costs of attending the training sessions of the summer school is covered by the organizers, including lecture notes, lunches and coffee breaks, but excluding travel and accommodation.
