Biography
Ivan Vargas Valdivieso is a Research Engineer at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Architecture at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). His doctoral research is supervised by Osman Unsal and Adrian Cristal. Ivan earned his BSc in Mechatronic Engineering from Universidad Tecnológica de la Mixteca (UTM) in Mexico and went on to complete his MSc in Computer Science from the Centro de Investigación en Computación (CIC) in 2019.
Since 2019, Ivan has been part of the Computer Architecture for Parallel Paradigms group at BSC. His research interests lie in hardware-software co-design, focusing on novel acceleration techniques for computing architectures. His work seeks to advance high-performance computing (HPC) by integrating cutting-edge hardware with optimized software strategies, particularly in emerging computing paradigms.
