Biography
Dr. Alger Sans Pinillos is a Researcher in Digital Ethics for Dual-Use Technologies at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), within the Department of Computer Applications in Science and Engineering (CASE). His current work focuses on integrating an ethical perspective into dual-use current and emergent technologies.
Dr. Sans Pinillos holds a PhD in Cognitive Science and Language, earned through a joint program between the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona, and the University of Rovira i Virgili. His dissertation, awarded Cum Laude and recipient of the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize, explores the inherent relationship between prescriptive values and scientific practice through abductive reasoning.
With over a decade of academic and research experience, Dr. Sans Pinillos has held roles such as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pavia (Italy) and predoctoral fellow at the Autonomous University of Barcelona under the FPU (Formación de Profesorado Universitario) grant. His teaching portfolio includes philosophy of cognitive science, philosophy of language, design sciences and praxeology, and philosophy of technology subjects.
Dr. Sans Pinillos has authored or co-authored over 40 works, including 7 papers in JCR and SJR-indexed journals and 6 book chapters listed in SPI and ICEE databases. He has co-edited three books, participated in over 20 peer-reviewed conferences, and contributed to 8 national and international research projects.
