Objectives
Abstract: Climate change is threatening rivers, lakes and wetlands across the globe, generating inequalities and discrimination that disproportionately affect women. From the disconformity, several women are also the voice of the most important movements for the defense and protection of these ecosystems. Unfortunately, we still forget women when we talk about climate change and water.
The exhibition “Augmented ecofeminisms: climate, water and woman”, organized by the Gender & Science AIL Group and funded by the Spanish Ministry of Equality invites reflection on the effects of climate change on freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with women. Through a journey that combines augmented reality with scientific, plastic and audiovisual material, the authors question the current management of environmental problems related to water; and explore potential futures based on alternative views to contemporary politics.
Ada Pastor
Short Bio: Freshwater ecologist, focusing her research on aquatic biogeochemical processes. She completed her PhD thesis in Ecology at the University of Barcelona in 2014. Later, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and Aarhus University in Denmark. Currently, she is working at the University of Girona, where she is studying biogeochemical processing by freshwater biofilms. In addition to her research, she has been involved in several initiatives related to gender balance in academia. She has also actively participated in the Gender & Science group of the Iberian Society of Limnology (AIL) since its foundation in 2014. Laura Carrau
Short Bio: Biologist specialized in scientific communication, photographer and audiovisual producer. She has made several international projects that led her to work in recognized institutions like National Geographic in Washington DC or LX Films in Lisbon. She likes traveling, sports, dance, circus and the sea. In fact, she has documented scientific expeditions with various research groups. Laura just released her latest scientific documentary Memories of a Sea, shot in the Aral Sea, Kazakhstan. Her documentary Story of a Wall was the winner of the best documentary 2021, at the Trapezi Circus and Theater Festival.www.lauracarrau.com
