Context And Mission

Integrating into BSC's Language Technologies Unit Innovation team, the ALIA territorial nodes & Use Cases Coordinator will support activities mainly focused on:

- Coordinating and nurturing the relationships with 3rd party developers (startups, system integrators, consultancy companies) on the use of BSC AI-based technologies.
- Coordinating and nurturing the relationships with Innovation and Business Development teams, located at the research institutes of the ILENIA project partners (HiTZ, CENID, USC) and the University of Jaen, on the use of BSC AI-based technologies for the development of use cases.
- Defining and managing the value chain relationships for the productization of the BSC LangTech AI infrastructure resources (models, datasets, etc.) that are created in projects such as Aina, ILENIA and ALIA among others.

Key Duties

  • As Senior AI Developer Advocate the key duties are related to Community, Content and Communication:
  • Support BSC Innovation and Business Development Unit on the development and maintenance of partners & developers map and relationships
  • Support Innovation and Business Development teams, located at the research institutes of the ILENIA project partners (HiTZ, CENID, USC) and the University of Jaen, on their own relationship with partners & developers for the development of AI/LT use cases
  • Educate AI developers on BSC AI resources usage through several communication channels
  • Lead the BSC participation in relevant conferences, hackathons, talks, events, etc., both planning and carrying out these actions in person
  • Management of issues raised in HuggingFace, GitHub, Discord, etc. by AI developers
  • Collect and summarize BSC AI resources usage feedback. Contribution to BSC Lang Tech research roadmap strategy
  • Support and enhance BSC technologies presence in relevant AI developer communities
  • Communication, in coordination with BSC's dissemination team:
  • Contribute to the strategy of the BSC dissemination team in projects like Aina, ILENIA and ALIA.
  • Contribute to use cases, success stories and other blog post publications
  • Contribute to social media presence of BSC AI resources and success stories
  • Content:
  • Design, quality control & alpha testing, maintenance and improvement of developers portal / kits (ALIA Kit, Aina Kit and alike)
  • Coordination and main contributions to BSC AI resources documentation, demos and code samples
  • Coordination and main contributions to content development for training on BSC AI resources. For internal and 3rd party use
  • Coordination of benchmarks publications in coordination with the BSC Language Technologies Unit

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related discipline.
    • Having a Master’s degree will be valued.
    • Or higher vocational education (FPII).
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Background within and understanding of Software Solutions
    • At least 3 years of experience giving talks and developing demos, workshops, webinars, videos, and other technical content
    • Demonstrated active participation in developer communities, forums, meetups, and online platforms for technology and community engagement
    • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience with content production tools (text, audio, video) and collaborative content production environments (GitBook)
    • Native or good level of spoken and written English, Spanish and/or Catalan.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Familiarity with community management
    • Familiarity with AI tooling solutions and MLOps
    • Familiarity developing and using open-source software and resources
    • Familiarity with the Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing technologies
    • Familiarity with UX/UI and product development
  • Competences
    • Willingness and capacity to learn about new technologies and procedures
    • International experience. Capacity to work and communicate in an international and interdisciplinary working environment
    • Familiarity with project management methodologies and CRM tools
    • Problem-solving skills to propose mutually beneficial solutions
    • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and in a team
    • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department
  • We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
  • Starting date: 01/05/2025

Development of the recruitment process



The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:

  • Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
  • Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.



The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.



In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.



The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
