PATC Course: Programming ARM based Prototypes

Barcelona Supercomputing Centre,
within the UPC Campus Nord premises.
 Vertex Building. Room VS208

Target group: BSc (or higher) degree in science or engineering with basic knowledge in parallel computing. We foresee some hands-on session, therefore attendees should bring their own laptop.

Cost: There is no registration fee. The attendees would need to cover the expenses for travel, accommodation and meals.

Day 1 /  9am - 5pm: (3h lectures with 5 min breaks on the hour)

Session 1 (2h):

  1. The Mont-Blanc Project
  2. ARM based machines: Architecture Overview
  3. Discussion

Session 2 (1h + 1h hands-on):

  1. Using ARM based machines (How to get access, Job Execution, Support) (1:30h)
  2. Lunch Break (13:00 to 14:00)

Session 3 (1h + 1h hands-on ):

Developing application (GNU tool chain, examples, etc…),  performance evaluation and power monitoring of ARM based systems for scientific computing
