What is the Works Council?
The Works Council is the unitary representative body for BSC workers. Their basic functions are to negotiate with the management of the company for improvements in working conditions, and to control that worker's rights are respected, for example reviewing the contracts that are signed. During our day-to-day work, we attend to inquiries from BSC workers and provide a safe space to make complaints about conditions at the BSC.
Right now, the Works Council is made up of 17 BSC workers, who are elected every four years. It is important to emphasize that it is the BSC workers who elect the Council, and not the company, to guarantee the Council's independence.
