Biography
Eulàlia Farré-Maduell is a Senior Researcher at the NLP for Biomedical Information Analysis at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. Eulàlia graduated in Medicine (Hospital Clínic, University of Barcelona) and specialised in Paediatrics (Hospital Germans Trias, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). She obtained the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTMH) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (University of London), and an MSc in the History of Science, Medicine and Technology (University of Oxford).
Since 2020, Eulàlia has been involved in the generation of biomedical Gold Standard datasets, Annotation and Normalisation Guidelines for the advancement of AI and Machine Learning systems applied to Electronic Health Records in Catalan and Spanish. Eulàlia has worked in close contact with hospitals to transfer this knowledge to health services research and clinical practice.
As part of the NLP4BIA, Eulàlia participates in various national (CARMEN, BARITONE) and European projects (DataTools4Heart, AI4Heart, BioMatDB), with a major role in variable definition, relevance and delimitation; priorities of ML in medicine; and optimal use of ontologies within research and health systems.
