Description
The Climate Variability and Change Group performs fundamental research to further our understanding of global and regional climate and its variations on time scales ranging from seasons, years, decades up to the next century. This includes research lines focussing on climate prediction, climate processes, feedbacks and teleconnections, climate extremes, and the carbon cycle in the climate system, which are supported by additional efforts of climate model development.
Besides understanding and modeling key climate processes and developing climateprediction capabilities, a key focus of our group is on carbon cycle modeling with the goal of exploring the potential of land and ocean-based carbon dioxide removal techniques to mitigate climate change. The group has a strong network of international collaborators, and group members contribute to a range of international panels. The group also has a strong commitment to trainingthe next generation of researchers.
