Operational dissemination of Barcelona Dust Forecast Center in numerical form through EUMETCast

From 8 November 2018 the dust forecast released by the Barcelona Dust Forecast Center, operated by Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and AEMET, will be available through EUMETCast in numerical form. This new product from the Barcelona Dust Forecast Center consists of 72-hour forecast of different parameters associated with airborne mineral dust.

The data will be distributed on EUMETCast as follows:

EUMETCast Europe:

  • Channel: EUMETSAT Data Channel 12
  • Multicast address: 224.223.222.35
  • PID: 301

EUMETCast Africa:

  • Channel: A1C-TPC-6
  • Multicast address: 224.223.225.4
  • PID: 100

Users who are already subscribed to ‘AEMET Products’ via EUMETCast will receive this new product automatically. Other users wishing to receive this product should register via the EUMETSAT Earth Observation Portal (EOP).

About the Barcelona Dust Forecast Center

The Barcelona Dust Forecast Center is one of the two World Meteorological Organization’s Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers focusing their activities on Atmospheric Sand and Dust Forecast. The Barcelona Dust Forecast Center is jointly managed by the BSC and the Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET). The Center provides daily dust forecast at 72 hours for Northern Africa, Middle East and Europe based on the in-house BSC dust model which runs operationally 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
