The Director of Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), Mateo Valero, and the Director for Innovation and Knowledge of Aigües de Barcelona, Maria Monzó, have signed a collaboration agreement today whereby the Research Center will contribute with its know-how in machine learning, Big Data, neural networks and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools applied to the water home supply.
For the last years, Aigües de Barcelona’s water supply data volume has grown exponentially; hence it has become necessary to use advanced tools of data analysis (such as AI) to transform this data into knowledge, so that the best maintenance decisions can be taken.
Through this agreement signed today, Aigües de Barcelona and BSC are to collaborate to develop these analysis tools, which will simplify the prioritization processes of the investments that the water company allocates to its home supply network.
Moreover, BSC researchers involved in this project will also look into the advanced system research of machine learning, which will be used in the efficient management of Big Data.
