For the first time, BSC will participate at the ICT - Innovate, Connect, Transform conference, which this year takes place from 20 to 22 October 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal. As well as featuring on the conference programme, the centre will also be represented on the exhibition floor.
For the first time, BSC will participate at the ICT - Innovate, Connect, Transform conference, which this year takes place from 20 to 22 October 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal. As well as featuring on the conference programme, the centre will also be represented on the exhibition floor.
On Thursday 22 October from 11am-12.20pm, Mateo Valero, BSC Director, will join Roberto Viola of the European Commission and other eminent European scientists on the Final Plenary Panel (Room: Plenary 9 - Auditorium 1). This session aims to explore the transformational impact of excellent science in research and innovation. Valero will provide examples from research results on high-performance computing (HPC) and its applications and will reflect on how national and European actions influence these results.
BSC will also be involved in the interactive exhibition (Transform area) at the booth of its coordinated project Mont-Blanc, as well as participating at the “EU-Brazil Together in ICT” booth at the INCO village with its participation in the projects EuBrazil Cloud Connect; EUBra-BIGSE; EUBrazilCloudForum and HPC4E. The exhibition will dynamically showcase the best-in-class results of existing European ICT research and innovation (from the FP7, CIP and Horizon 2020 programmes), presenting highly advanced research, future visions and highlighting activities with a high potential impact on the European industry, competitiveness and the future lives and wellbeing of European citizens.
In addition, on 22 October at 09:50 the project ICT-Energy, in which BSC participates, is holding a networking session titled “ICT-Energy: decreasing energy consumption toward zero-power devices”, while representatives from BSC’s coordinated project RETHINK big will take part in the EuDEco project networking session on the data economy, taking place on 21 October.

The ICT 2015 event, organised by the European Commission together with the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, will comprise a number of parallel activities:
