The president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Quim Torra, has visited today the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) to learn more about the research being carried out.
Torra has stressed that the BSC opens opportunities and is a strategic infrastructure for its power and boldness. The president added that "the MareNostrum 5 will give more value to Barcelona as a technological hub. We are very proud." Torra has reaffirmed their commitment to the centre: "We are by your side."
For his part, the director of the BSC, Mateo Valero, wanted to highlight the importance of the project to develop the European chip that has to ensure European technological sovereignty: "We want Barcelona to be the capital of the European chip."
The visit was attended by the Secretary of Universities and Research, Francisco-Xavier Grau and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Francesc Torres.
