Caliope allows both users and environmental managers to view the air quality level in a specific geographic location, as well as the concentrations of the main pollutants in that area.
Caliope EU has been developed thanks to support received through the MYGEOSS project, as part of which it received an award as one of the best environmental applications using open data. The award will be presented today in Mexico City during the plenary meeting of the GEO (Group on Earth Observations) organisation.
The Caliope application is based on the air quality prediction system of the same name. This was created in 2007 with the aim of improving pollution control systems in large cities and providing a reliable source of information for those groups of the population who are particularly sensitive to the effects of air pollution, including children and older people, or people with respiratory problems.
