Taking place on 20-22 January in Bologna, this year’s HiPEAC conference focuses on the innovative made-in-Europe technologies driving computing systems from the edge to the cloud. Three plenary keynote talks, 24 workshops and 13 tutorials complement the main paper track. Additionally, there are three poster sessions.
Researchers from Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) form a core part of the HiPEAC network, which numbers around 2,000 experts, and once again are playing a significant part in this major international event.
As reflected in the De-RISC, EPI and MEEP projects, BSC is championing open hardware architectures, with a number of presentations around this topic.
Among the events featuring BSC researchers are the following:
Monday, 20 January 2020
- MULTIPROG: Workshop on Programmability and Architectures for Heterogeneous Computing, organised by Oscar Palomar
- EuroExaScale: Workshop on European Exascale HPC
- The Arm architecture in HPC: from mobile phones to the Top500, Filippo Mantovani
- EPEEC’s Advances towards Programming Productivity for Heterogeneity at Large Scale, Leonel Toledo
- Heterogeneity Alliance: Working for the future generation of heterogeneous computing
- Working groups: scope, projects and future challenges: WG1 IDE/SDK, Jorge Ejarque
Tuesday, 21 January 2020
- Workshop on Mixed Critical Systems - Dependable Artificial Intelligent CPS in Continuum development, organised by Francisco J. Cazorla
Francisco will be presenting a talk titled ‘DeepLearning Libraries in Critical Embedded Systems’ and chairing the session on ‘RISCV in critical systems: opportunities and challenges’.
- Eurolab4HPC: Making Europe Excel in HPC
- Paul Carpenter will be co-presenting the Eurolab4HPC Vision document
- Eurolab4HPC Industrial Session on Open Source Hardware
- From EPI to LOCA: The perspectives of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center in open hardware development, John Davis, BSC, Director of LOCA initiative
- NG-RES: Workshop on Next Generation Real-Time Embedded Systems - Jaume Abella and Francisco J. Cazorla are on the programme committee.
Wednesday, 22 January 2020
David Trilla will be presenting a poster on the De-RISC project.
- WAICA: Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Computer Architecture – organised by Marisa Gil
- Sanem Arslan will present ‘FPGAVolt: A low-power FPGA-based DNN Accelerator through Aggressive Undervoltage’, part of the LEGaTO project coordinated by BSC
- First steps towards a made-in-Europe high-performance microprocessor
- Presenters: Mauro Olivieri, Filippo Mantovani
HiPEAC2020 will also once again feature HiPEAC’s tailored recruitment support provided by BSC’s Xavier Salazar, helping companies find candidates with the specialist skills to deliver the computing systems of the future. He will host the STEM student day Tuesday, 21 January, with around 100 students in attendance.
