BSC and Nearby Sensor, from Barcelona, have founded the technology company Nearby Computing SL.
This new company aims at developing advanced orchestration services for a massive deployment of the Internet of Things (IoT). These services allow for both companies and public institutions the automation of computing processing in the edge for the IoT and 5G networks.
The new company Nearby Computing SL has been officially constituted today, with the participation of a team of researchers of the BSC and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) (David Carrera, Oscar Trullols, Tom Fenech, Alvaro Villalba and Sergi Alonso), BSC itself and Nearby Sensors SL.
Nearby Computing SL will provide personalized services for different MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) and Fog Computing scenarios, computer technologies which will be key to the future development of 5G and IoT. The solutions will combine different products of commercial software and the integration of hardware and software components.
NearbySensor, constituted in 2013, has been developing management and automation systems in the area of the IoT based on applied distributed computing in fields such as Smart Cities, infrastructures, large-scale equipment and facilities and, generally speaking, any area in which information management requires the combination of systems supported in the cloud (Cloud Computing) as well as locally (Edge Computing).
