It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries.

Context And Mission

BSC is the coordinator of the Center of National Competences in High-Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data (www.eurocc-spain.res.es), one of the 32 national competence centres of the EuroCC network (GA: 101101903), funded by EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.

The objective of this Competence Centre is to consolidate the knowledge, skills and services offered by the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), a Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) distributed throughout Spain, composed of 17 supercomputers interconnected with high-speed networks, with a particular focus on facilitating and attracting industrial use of HPC.

We are looking for a person to support the training activities of the EuroCC-Spain Competence Centre and related RES activities within the BSC Infrastructures Access Group of the Operations Department.

Key Duties

  • Support to the management, monitoring, reporting and day-to-day activities of the Spanish Competence Centre in HPC (EuroCC-Spain-RES)
  • Support to the training and dissemination activities of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES)
  • Support to the organization of RES and EuroCC meetings, seminars and training courses
  • Support to the organization of RES and EuroCC events, notably the RES User Conference (JURES)

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor or Master degree (fields like Business, Science, Engineering, Technology, preferred)
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • One year experience in project management
    • One year experience in organization and management of scientific events
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Knowledge of the Catalan and Spanish innovation ecosystem
    • Experience in the field of digital transformation of companies (mainly SMEs) will be highly valued
    • Experience in communication activities and graphical design will be also valued
    • Good English level
    • High Spanish level
  • Competences
    • Capacity to organize their own agenda and work plans
    • Proactive attitude and good communication skills
    • Travel availability in Europe, sometimes under short notice, to attend relevant events
    • Ability to work independently or in teams when required

Conditions

  • The position will be located at BSC within the Operations Department
  • We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
  • Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
  • Starting date: December 2024
