About BSC
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries.

Context And Mission
The Computational Applications in Science and Engineering department (CASE) works with industry and academia to develop software and applications that leverage the power of High-Performance Computing to solve real problems. In particular, a large line of research is the creation of efficient interfaces for these applications. The challenge is a composition of difficulties like large data volumes, complex data-based interaction and representation, and scientific correctness. Inside the CASE department works the Data Analytics and Visualization group, whose role is to develop and apply advanced statistical and determinist models to extract valuable information from large data sets and convert them into visual and practical tools and representations.
The role of this position will be to design and implement the architectural design of the applications, interacting and coordinating with both backend and frontend programmers, with more weight on each side depending on the project. This person will collaborate on several different projects and will manage a small team, coordinating with the design team to implement the applications according to the user and project requirements, as well as collaborate in writing funding proposals to grow and stabilise the developers team.
