Context And Mission
 
The Education and Training Team, housed within the Director’s Department, is responsible of coordinating the training and education activities, conduct educational research and develop opportunities for collaboration with other leading High Performance Computing (HPC) and Supercomputing centers as well as world class universities in the areas of education, training and mobility. The unit contributes to regional projects national awards (Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence), and European projects (EUMaster4HPC, EuroCC2, CASTIEL2).

We are looking for a Training Officer to work in the Education and Training Team of BSC. The main responsibility of the position will be to coordinate, drive, and update the BSC AI Factory Training Program. The focus will be on managing the structure of the program, ensuring it stays relevant to the rapidly evolving AI field, and driving forward both researchers and institutional objectives. By coordinating resources and keeping the curriculum up-to-date, the BSC AI Factory Training Program will equip researchers with the AI skills necessary to excel in their fields.

The funding for these actions/fellowships and contracts comes from the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility - Next Generation, within the framework of the General Invitation by the public business entity Red.es to participate in the talent attraction and retention programs within Investment 4 of Component 19 of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

Key Duties
 
  • Organize Program Structure: Develop a comprehensive framework for courses, workshops and other activities, ensuring alignment with research and industry trends in AI.
  • Facilitate Partnerships: Build relationships with AI-focused companies and research institutes. Actively seek partnerships with industry leaders, technology companies, and funding bodies to support research, tools, and resources necessary for hands-on AI training.
  • Manage Enrollment and Tracking: Oversee student enrollment processes, progress tracking, and ensure that all students receive timely feedback on their work
  • Curriculum Refresh: Regularly review and update the curriculum based on the latest advancements in AI, ensuring that students are learning the most relevant skills and ethical AI development.
  • Introduce Emerging Technologies: Integrate new tools and platforms into the curriculum.
  • Continuous Learning and Skill Development: Implement continuous learning initiatives, such as workshops and certifications in AI methodologies, data ethics, and industry-standard tools.
 
Requirements
 
  • Education
    • Doctoral degree or equivalent experience is required.
    • A master’s in Education Technology, Artificial Intelligence, or Program Management would be ideal.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Familiarity with the latest AI and Data Science technologies as well as their applications.
    • Program Management: Ability to manage the design, scheduling, and logistics of the training program, including planning courses, overseeing enrollment, and coordinating with conveners, industry experts, and students.
    • Team Leadership: Experience in leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams, including conveners, students, and guest lecturers. Being able to delegate tasks, oversee team performance, and resolve conflicts effectively.
    • Curriculum Design: Skills in developing and updating training modules and workshops to ensure alignment with current AI trends.
    • Educational Methodologies: Understanding of modern teaching techniques and platforms. This includes integrating practical applications of AI tools and methods into the course structure.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous.
    • Industry Engagement: Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with AI-focused companies, research institutions, and other stakeholders. Building collaborations.
  • Competences
    • Ability to work in a team and in a multi-cultural environment.
    • Learning Agility: Commitment to staying up-to-date with the fast-evolving AI landscape. This includes continuous learning of new techniques, platforms, and tools that can be integrated into the program.
    • Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt the curriculum, training methodologies, and program structure to reflect advancements in AI and respond to BSC needs.
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program through data analysis, feedback, and outcomes. This involves identifying areas for improvement and making strategic changes to the program structure.
    • Innovation: A creative approach to finding new ways of integrating emerging technologies into the program.
 
Conditions
 
  • The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department
  • We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance
  • Duration: 4 years
  • Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
  • Salary: 45.00,00€
  • Additional Expenses Grant: Each fellowship will be associated with a grant for additional expenses, such as IT equipment, travel, training, stays, etc.
  • Starting date: asap - the incorporation for this vacancy must be before the 16th of December 2024

Development of the recruitment process

The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:

  1. Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
  2. Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.

The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.

In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.

The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.
