Biography
Carlos Escolano is a research engineer in the Language Technologies unit from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. He is currently working on the development of machine translation models for the Spain's official languages as well as low-resource languages as part of projects AINA and TRAIN.
He has a strong background on Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning. In 2022, he obtained a PhD from Polithecnic University of Catalonia focused on multilingual machine translation architectures using language-specific modules. His research has focused mainly on multilingual machine translatation and speech translation, paying special attention to representation learning and transfer learning between languages.
