Galtea, the new BSC spin-off for the safe and responsible use of generative AI by companies

Galtea is the first company in Spain to provide a technological and scientific basis for the technical evaluation and regulatory compliance of generative AI. This new technology ensures that AI models are accurate, safe and do not violate current European regulations.

AI and supercomputing to enhance agricultural efficiency and sustainability

BSC unveils Talptech, a new spin-off to enhance vineyard, fruit, and olive tree production while cutting pesticide use by up to 40%, promoting farm sustainability and protecting natural resources. A cutting-edge device, integrated into agricultural machinery, will provide real-time analysis of crop growth and health, enabling early detection of diseases and nutrient deficiencies.

BSC to make an impact @ SC24 Technical Program

BSC will have a strong presence across various key sessions. BSC’s researcher Alba Cervera will deliver an invited talk on Quantum computers, BSC will also host 13 Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions, 2 tutorials, 3 workshops, and participate in 2 panels, showcasing its expertise and fostering collaboration in the supercomputing community.

BSC showcases its smart city technologies at SCEWC

Identifying in real time risk situations that can cause traffic accidents, planning personalized evacuation routes in an emergency situation or developing a digital twin of urban areas that contribute to create fairer and more sustainable cities are some of the initiatives developed at BSC that will be shown at this edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress.

BSC unveils innovative AIR S+T+ARTS artist-scientist residencies at The Gate Festival

The presentations culminate the AIR S+T+ARTS project, co-funded by the European Commission, in which international artists have worked in collaboration with experts from the scientific and technological fields. BSC has been one of the main pillars of the programme, leading the scientific part of three of three projects: Impossible Larynx: An Artistic Research on Modeling Voices, by Maria Arnal; Breathing Architecture, by Filippo Nassetti, and Electric Atmospheres, by Richard Vijgen.

BSC, 'Technological Support to Scientific Research' award at the Telecommunications Night of Murcia

The College and the Association of Telecommunications Engineers of the Region of Murcia have recognized BSC for “its impact on scientific research, its innovation in supercomputing architecture, its high impact projects, its training and development of talent and its innovative medical technology”. The award was collected by the director of BSC, Mateo Valero, who expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

BSC's 'We are Young Women Researchers' program, awarded by AMETIC for encouraging female digital talent

The program 'We are Young Women Researchers', which promotes BSC with the aim of boosting scientific and technological vocations especially among girls, has been awarded with the Digital Skills Awards Spain 2024 in the category 'Digital skills for women and girls'. The award is given by AMETIC, the association that represents the digital industry sector in Spain.

Mateo Valero, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Autonomous University of Chile and the University of Chile

The Director of the BSC has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Autonomous University of Chile. For the first time, the university confers its highest distinction on an expert proposed by the Faculty of Engineering. And the University of Chile has also awarded Valero an Honorary Doctorate recognizing him as a global leader in computer architecture and a pioneering engineer in the field of supercomputing.

The Director of BSC, awarded with the ‘Innovation and Science’ Prize by La Vanguardia, and the Barceloní de l'Any prize by El Periódico

Mateo Valero has been awarded the Innovation and Science’ Prize at the second edition of the Premios Vanguardia for being a pioneer and a benchmark in the supercomputing sector. Valero has also been awarded the first edition of the Barceloní de l'Anyprize, by El Periódico. The award honours a person who has contributed during the year 2024 to defining, promoting or improving the project of the city of Barcelona.
