Mònica de Mier, CEO of Nextmol, a BSC spin-off, has been selected to participate in the third edition of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE). This is a training programme for women entrepreneurs organised by the Consulate General of the United States in Barcelona and Foment del Treball, with the aim of promoting the development of business projects led by women.
Nextmol is a spin-off company from the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), specialised in computational chemistry. It is developing a software-as-a-service platform to accelerate the R&D of sustainable specialty chemicals through in silico experimentation using molecular modelling and artificial intelligence. Its mission is to help the chemical industry in its green and digital transition by enabling faster development of sustainable chemicals to meet Green Deal targets, environmental regulations and current consumer demands.
AWE is a US State Department-funded entrepreneurship programme consisting of classroom lectures and an intensive online training course from the US Thunderbird School of Business, Arizona State University, called the 100 Million Learners Bootcamp on Global Entrepreneurship & Innovation, which includes 18 modules focusing on ideation, strategic planning, financing, public-private partnerships, social entrepreneurship or 4th revolution or Industry 4.0.
