The Barcelona Dust Forecast Center (BDFC) has reached an agreement with the African Center of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD) to share the numerical output of the NMMB/BSC-Dust dust prediction model.
This agreement will allow ACMAD developing dust forecast products adapted for African National Meteorological Services, polcity- and decision-makers from socio-economic sectors affected by the high incidence of heavy dust events.
The United Nations General Assembly recognized that dust storms pose a serious obstacle to sustainable development of developing countries affected and that in recent years have caused substantial harm to the inhabitants of the arid regions of the world, very especially in Africa. It is expected that this agreement will help mitigating the problem and developing resilience skills.
