The Spanish Association of Users of Telecommunications and the Information Society (Autelsi) has awarded the Autelsi 2020 award to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) for its “outstanding promotion of the Development of Telecommunications and Information Systems”. Mateo Valero, director of the BSC, has been in charge of "receiving" the award, in a ceremony that, due to the pandemic, has had to be held online.
Leandro Pérez Manzanera, president of the Board of Directors of AUTELSI, highlights that "it is an honor to award the AUTELSI 2020 Award to BCS, the leader of supercomputing in Spain and an international reference center, which highlights the Impuls al Desenvolupament de les Telecomunicacions i els Sistemes d'Informació".
With this recognition, Autelsi wanted to underline the trajectory of the BSC not only as a research center for computer architecture but also as an international center of excellence for e-science.
“For BSC this is a recognition of the influence of our center in the field of supercomputer architecture, an area in which we really stand out and are an international reference. This award also wants to show our active role in promoting supercomputing not only in Spain but internationally”, highlights Mateo Valero.
The ceremony of the 16th edition of the Autelsi awards, which took place today, has also recognized Quirónsalud, CEPSA, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Agency for Digital Administration of the Community of Madrid, Carrefour and everis.
