CLARIAH-ES: CLARIAH-ES: Red estratégica para la integración en las infraestructuras europeas de investigación en Ciencias Sociales y

Description

The CLARIAH-ES strategic network aims to contribute to the management and national coordination of two European Research Infrastructure Consortia (ERIC): CLARIN (focused on digital processes and data related to language) and DARIAH (focused on digital data and processes related to digital humanities).

In the current context of digital transformation, study, research and development in the humanities, arts, and social sciences require scientific and technological infrastructures that allow for the computational processing of textual, visual, numerical and/or auditory data. These infrastructures foment multilingualism, interoperability, maintenance and reuse of resources, open science, visibility, and scientific cooperation in Europe; they therefore enable the fragmentation of research communities to be overcome by increasing the impact of their research. Although both are independent ERIC infrastructures, in some European countries, such as the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Germany, Finland, Belgium, Austria, etc., CLARIAH joint consortia have been created.

The INTELE strategic network (2020-2022) has articulated a common proposal for a CLARIAH-ES national consortium that will allow for Spain's official incorporation into both infrastructures as of 2023. By forming part of CLARIN and DARIAH, researchers in the social sciences, arts, and humanities will have access to unique European research facilities that include standards, data, tools, computation, methods, communities of interest, European projects, etc. In this manner, all researchers in these areas will have access from their computer to the technology, infrastructure, and resources necessary to investigate in the cloud with the most advanced digital and artificial intelligence tools available.

The objective of this strategic network is to coordinate, promote participation, and contribute to the advancement of Spanish research in the humanities and social sciences, as well as to improve Spain's strategic position in international projects and programs, fundamentally within the context of the European Research Area.
