Target group: The seminar was aimed at all the researchers, students, technicians and interested public in the available resources as well as in the outcome of the most excellent studies developed during the last years. Besides, priority was given to contributions describing ongoing R&D collaborative Grid projects between Portuguese, Spanish and Latin American institutions.

The 2011 the 5th Iberian Grid Infrastructure Conference was co-organized by the Advanced Computing and e-science Department at the Institute of Physics of Cantabria (CSIC-UC),  the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the RES. Besides providing information on RES and PRACE to all the attendees in a general session, organised a training session aimed at users of supercomputing services to solve problems related with the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) theory of quarks and gluons, a lattice gauge theory formulated on a grid (or lattice) of points in space and time.
