Asepeyo and BSC collaborates for e-health projects

BSC and Asepeyo have signed an agreement to integrate Artificial Intelligence into Asepeyo’s medical management and diagnoses. This agreement is a strong commitment to personalized medicine and artificial intelligence to improve the quality of health services and diagnosis and increase efficiency in managing resources.The collaboration is made up of three main projects: text mining, assistance in diagnostic imaging and predictive model of sick leave.

MareNostrum to explore the relation between AI and artistic creation

MareNostrum plays an important role in Human Brother, a musical piece for soprano and orchestra of the composer Ferran Cruixent that the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya will premiere on September 27, 28 and 29. Cruixent has investigated in the relationship of Artificial Intelligence with music. Artur García Sáez, BSC researcher, has been his ally and guide in this adventure.

Rosa M. Badia receives the Euro-Par Achievement Award 2019

Recipients of the award must have had an extraordinary impact on parallel processing and have contributed significantly to the Euro-Par conference series. In his address, Prof. Christian Lengauer described Rosa M. Badia as one of the most prominent scientists in HPC in Spain who contributed greatly to the visibility of BSC. Lengauer highlighted Badia’s allegiance to Euro-Par through the years.

What is dust and how does it affect society?

This animated video explains the dust cycle and its impacts. The video is created by inDust, which provides research and assists sectors of society that are affected by airborne mineral dust. BSC leads the InDust-International Network to encourage the use of monitoring and forecasting dust products. InDust is a COST Action in the framework of the European COST Programme and has the participation of 31 countries and the WMO.

New Call for the HPC Europa 3 programme

BSC participates in the HPC-Europa3 project, which aims to provide access to most of the top European HPC centres. Within this programme, visiting researchers have the opportunity to be hosted for a period for up 3 months at BSC and to use the centre’s resources. The visiting researchers receive financial support to cover all expenses during the stay, including accommodation and travel costs. A raise in visit stipend is expected depending on each country of destination.

The RES brings together 200 experts in supercomputing in Zaragoza

More than 200 experts in HPC, coming from various disciplines (all of them users of supercomputing in Spain) meet on September 18 and 19 in Zaragoza.The Patio de la Infanta will host the 13th Users Conference of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), in which the latest scientific results of different disciplines using the RES supercomputing resources will be presented.

2nd call for applications to the BSC STARS programme

BSC incorporates 12 outstanding post-doctorate researchers in all fields of HPC and related applications. STARS (SupercompuTing And Related applicationS Fellows) programme aims at fostering the training of highly skilled post-doc in all fields of High Performance Computing and related applications. This initiative is part of COFUND call of the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions within the Horizon 2020 Programme. The application deadline is the 30th of September 2019 at 11pm.

New edition of the female-focused tours for primary schools

In this edition the activity, which aims to bring computational thinking to children in a playful way, will be available to all schools. The visits are part of the “We are young women researchers” project, which aims to bring technology to the students, especially to girls. Bridging the gender gap in the science and technology field is one of the objectives of this program, which we carry out in collaboration with Barcelona City Council.
