Barcelona Supercomputing Center is a partner in the Research Data Alliance (RDA - http://rd-alliance.org ), which aims to improve data sharing across academia and industry. Within RDA; the Earth Sciences department at BSC intends to promote an Interest Group (IG, https://rd-alliance.org/groups/interest-groups ) about weather, climate and air quality, to explore and discuss the challenges for the use and efficient analysis of large and diverse datasets from the climate, weather and air quality communities.
Based on a collaboration between several research meteorological and European climate institutes and taking into account input from the private (renewable energy, satellite and agriculture sectors for example) and public sectors, this IG will suggest practical and applicable solutions for Big Data issues encountered by these communities, both at technological and policy level.
A one-day workshop is being held on 11 February in Barcelona to discuss the creation of the IG and exchange views on technical issues. The Earth Sciences department is pleased to invite you to participate.
As this is a small event (around 30 people), places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
To register, email: Francesco Benincasa (francesco.benincasa@bsc.es) OR Pierre-Antoine Bretonnière (pierre-antoine.bretonniere@bsc.es).
