The jury of the awards given by the Foro de Empresas Innovadoras appreciated BSC's capacity to foster entrepreneurship and promote business innovation.
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) has been awarded by the Foro de Empresas Innovadoras (FEI) with the Recognition to the organization supporting innovation in the 10th edition of the FEI 2022 Awards, which aim to contribute to the promotion of innovative culture in all areas related to the generation of knowledge. The awards gala was held this Tuesday in the auditorium of CaixaForum Madrid.
The jury appreciated the BSC's promotion of the creation of an innovative productive network, its participation in international projects, its contribution to economic development and the welfare of society through the transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as the creation of work teams and research groups in which its inter-territorial character stands out.
The president of the jury, Carmen Vela, highlighted the "outstanding trajectory of the BSC over the years, both in terms of research and innovation, transcending the field of supercomputing research, showing in recent years a dynamism and capabilities to promote entrepreneurship and boost business innovation in Spain".
The director of the BSC-CNS, Mateo Valero, thanked for the recognition and emphasized: "At the BSC we have always been committed to the development of science that is excellent but also socially relevant, that solves problems and contributes to the economic development and welfare of society. We are a research center, but we help the productive network by transferring knowledge and technology, since without technology it is impossible to solve the great problems of humanity. Our support for innovation and technology transfer is demonstrated by the creation of 11 spin-offs that have generated more than 120 jobs. This is one of the ways we have of returning to society all the resources that BSC has received since its creation."
The Foro de Empresas Innovadoras is a non-profit association whose objective is to promote the innovative culture in the business world, in universities, in public administrations and, in general, in all areas related to the generation of knowledge, constituted as a platform for cooperation between universities and companies in the fields of research, development and innovation.
