HPC SPECTRA: HPC Skills Platform and European Collaboration for TRAining
Description
Training of European HPC users is of utmost importance to maximise the exploitation of the highly ambitious investments in research and infrastructure of the EuroHPC JU roadmap.
The HPC SPECTRA project will address two timely challenges of EuroHPC JUs training strategy: developing an innovative EuroHPC Training Platform and co-organising the International HPC Summer School (IHPCSS) editions of 2024 and 2025. Through these actions, the project will (a) provide an intuitive gateway to a comprehensive database of European HPC training activities and (b) sustain the successful series of the IHPCSS started in 2010.
The new EuroHPC Training Platform will build on the HPC in Europe portal pilot developed by the HPC SPECTRA project partners, improved with additional input from European HPC training stakeholders, notably Centres of Excellence and National Competence Centres, and in addition incorporating the training framework from the HPC Certification Forum. Co-organisation of the IHPCSS will benefit from the experience of the project coordinator who co-led the European contribution for the past decade. These actions will be complemented by a strong communications and outreach campaign, exploiting the CASTIEL2/EUROCC2 and project beneficiaries extensive networks, to engage all stakeholders and to maximise the impact of these actions for the European HPC community.
The HPC SPECTRA consortium, made up of three high-calibre universities and three strong research centres, is in an ideal position to carry out the project in an effective and efficient manner. At the end of the project, realisation of the EuroHPC Training Platform and the two editions of the IHPCSS (in Europe and in North America) will contribute to the over-arching objectives of the EuroHPC JU and to the specific objectives of this call, with important impact on increasing the level of HPC skills across Europe and building a competitive workforce.
