BSC researcher Mauricio Hanzich opens SEG annual meeting 2015
For the first time in the history of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Annual Meeting, a BSC researcher spoke at the Opening Session and Presidential Address, which was broadcast worldwide. Mauricio Hanzich, HPC software engineering group manager in the CASE department, gave a talk on “Exascale Technology Effects on Geophysiscs” last Monday.
Hanzich’s talk focused on three main topics relating to Exascale computing: why Exascale is important for the oil and gas industry, how the current Petascale architecture is being used and how to adapt to the coming Exascale era.
Hanzich also participated in an international discussion panel focusing on different Exascale topics that had also featured in the opening session.
