The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. Context And Mission
We are looking for a candidate to manage and coordinate the full life-cycle of research projects within BSC’s Project Management Office (PMO), from the preparation of proposals to the execution and closing of projects. The chosen candidate will report to the Senior Project Manager assigned to BSC's Life Sciences Department.
Key Duties
- Funding Opportunities: Proactively identify and communicate funding opportunities across all schemes (regional, national, European, and international) aligned with BSC’s strategic priorities. Work with research group leaders to establish and maintain a call calendar to ensure efficient proposal planning.
- Proposal Management: Lead the development of project proposals for funding programs of all levels, focusing on management sections and coordinating partner inputs on budgets, governance, and resources. Ensure compliance with administrative and eligibility requirements and support researchers during the proposal preparation process.
- Project Coordination: Plan and monitor project resources and timelines, track budgets, and anticipate challenges. Organize and participate in meetings, reviews, and events. Prepare and submit periodic reports and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Contract Management: Negotiate, draft, and supervise the signing of legal agreements, including Consortium Agreements, NDAs, and Grant Agreements. Liaise with legal services, researchers, and external partners to ensure agreements align with BSC’s interests.
- General Support: Support project implementation through administrative management, organization of meetings and events, and maintenance of project-related databases. Collaborate with the PMO team to improve internal processes and establish strong relationships with research group leaders to help them achieve their objectives.

Education
- University degree, interdisciplinary backgrounds are an asset.
- Additional training in project management or proposal preparation is a plus.

Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- At least two years’ experience in project management

Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Extensive experience in developing and coordinating collaborative proposals for public and private funding opportunities, with specialized expertise in European Commission Framework Programs and Spanish funding schemes.
- Strong expertise in administrative management of the pre-award phase, ensuring full compliance with eligibility criteria, administrative requirements, and funding guidelines.
- Demonstrated success in managing European and national research projects, with a focus on effective oversight of timelines, budget allocation, comprehensive reporting, and seamless stakeholder coordination.

Competences
- Fluency in English (essential); Spanish proficiency required; Catalan is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of competitive research funding landscapes, including regional, national, and European opportunities, and transversal research aspects such as ethics, open science, gender dimension, and innovation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience interacting with stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Excellent report writing skills in English are essential.
- Strong planning and prioritization abilities, capable of managing multiple deadlines.
- Used to working autonomously and taking the initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel when required.
Conditions
- The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, support to the relocation procedures
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Salary: we offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
